My first year of marriage was very challenging for me.

I had no idea how selfish I was. Yep. I said it. I was still operating as an individual and not as a team. Going from me to we, proved to be more difficult than I imagined.

We both had careers, our own homes filled with furniture, and our treasures. We married in our forties with no kids, and our precious pups. Having said that, it has been a grand adventure, and my husband has been my greatest teacher.

We are now married over 6 glorious years and I wanted to share what I have discovered marriage isn’t:

Marriage isn’t an amusement park. You don’t exit as soon as the fun comes to an end. It’s a relationship you believe in enough to stick around until the fun returns.

Marriage isn’t a competition. If your partner wins, you win. If your partner loses, you both lose. Your on the same team, and it’s important to support each other.

Marriage isn’t a computer. There is no limit to the amount of good memories you can store. Let the good times roll. Try new adventures together. Go new places together. Have fun!

Marriage isn’t a reality show. Old theatrics do not need to be repeated. ┬áLet the past stay in the past. End of story!

If your struggling in your marriage, reach out and ask for help today. There is hope and there is help for you. God works through people and that can stand for good orderly direction. You are never alone. Get the support you need. Enjoy your husband or your wife. Marriage is a blessing.
